What is a "welcoming" church?
|
We define a welcoming church as any church that actively seeks to welcome gays and lesbians as members, and does not ask them to try to become straight.
There are three categories of welcoming churches:
"Side A" welcoming churches support same-sex relationships as morally equivalent to opposite-sex relationships.
"Side B" welcoming churches teach that God calls gay people to celibacy. Although they do not support homosexual behavior, they make concerted efforts to ensure gay people feel welcome in their congregations.
"Side C" welcoming churches have no official stand on homosexuality and same-sex relationships.
Profiles on this site indicate whether each church's position is Side A, B, or C.

How do I add a church that isn't listed?
|
Simple! Choose the add a welcoming church option from the church profiles menu and follow the instructions.
It may take up to a week for newly added churches to show up in our database.

How do I correct an error or update my church's profile?
|
Thanks for your interest in helping us keep our site current. We greatly appreciate the help.
In the Beta release of Welcoming Churches, you can let us know about updates that are needed to church listings by using the report feature that is found in the actions navigation block on the right side of each church profile.
Updates to Welcoming Churches in the feature include some nifty church management tools, until then we're sticking with "simple".

I had an account on the old WelcomingChurches.com. Is my login still valid?
|
If your church was registered on our old website, it's still registered.
The first time you access your account, you will be asked to update the password for your personal use. Your personal username and password will then be linked to your church profile, and you will use the new username and password to login to the site from then on.
In the Beta release of Welcoming Churches, there are no longer passwords or access codes for your church. Your church is simply linked to your account.

WelcomingChurces.com "Beta"? Umm, what's a Beta?
|
We're glad you asked! A beta release is terminology that is commonly used in the software and developement world. While our site is running and functional, we have lots of really neat features and additions that we'll be adding to the site in the near future. We're also using this time period to evaluate what we've done so far while you use it.
In short, its just "techie talk" to let you know that the version your using today is not fully complete and many new things are on the way. Think of it as a "website in training".

What if I forgot my password?
|
If you forgot your personal password, you can use the "forgot password" link on the login page to have a temporary password automatically sent to the e-mail address you registered with us. It's as easy as that!
If you can't access that e-mail address or the "forgot password" link isn't working for you, just give us a call at (919) 786-0000 or (888) GAY-4-GOD.

|

Our direct line is (919) 786-0000. Or call toll-free (888) GAY-4-GOD.

Who funds this site? / How can I help?
|
WelcomingChurches.com is provided by The Gay Christian Network (GCN), a nonprofit charity funded entirely by freewill donations. We do not charge any fees or allow advertisements or anything else that might interfere with our ability to reach the world with the truth about God's love.
You can support GCN's efforts through our monthly "Grow in Faith" pledge or individual donations. Either way, we appreciate your support!
